Statement of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible, namely the sixty-six canonical books of the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. The Bible is also our timeless guide for faith and for Christian living. Most of all, it is abundantly clear that Jesus repeatedly affirmed the truth of Scripture. (Matthew 22:29; Luke 24:44-47; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:16-21)

The Church, The Body of Christ
  • We believe the Church was designed by God for the purpose of evangelism and Christian service in this broken world. And this Church also represents the Body of Christ on earth, reaching out and serving in His name. (Luke 10:25-37; Matthew 16:18; 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; I Cor. 12:27)
  • We also believe that all people are spiritually lost apart from the redemptive grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and are all guilty of sin; but His substitutionary sacrifice on the Cross provided atonement for our sin. As a result, salvation is a gift of God’s grace, not by works but by personal faith in the living Christ, as we repent of our sin and receive Him into our hearts. (John 1:12-13; Romans 3:21-30; Ephesians 2:8-9)
Humanity: Our Condition
  • We believe that God created human beings in his image, as living souls, and that everyone matters to Him. (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7; Colossians 1:15-17)
  • We believe Jesus Christ is the sovereign head of the Church and that all true believers are members. Along with that we strongly support the local expressions of His Church all around the world, including specialized ministries that are called to perform a vital service for those in need as a witness for His name and glory. (1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Ephesians 4:15-16)

The Return of Jesus Christ and the Hope of Eternal Life
  • We believe Jesus Christ will bodily return and that there will be a final and irreversible judgment. (Matt. 24:3, 37; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
  • We believe in the resurrection of every human being, both the saved and the lost: the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life, and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal separation from God. (John 5:24, 28, 29)
  • We believe that Christian believers’ salvation and eternal life is permanent, and cannot be revoked or lost, and that we are kept by His power at work within us, not by our performance. Our faith should be evident, however, in how we live and in the spiritual fruit that we bear. We should also be patient in encouraging those who struggle in their faith, as Jesus did with His disciples. (John 10:27-29; Romans 8:1, 15-16; 1 Corinthians 15:58; Galatians 2:20; 5:22-23; Hebrews 7:25; 1 Peter 1:5)
Almighty God and The Trinity
  • We believe there is one living, all-powerful, all-present, all-knowing, sovereign God: The I AM of Scripture, who eternally exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Exodus 3:14; John 8:58; 10:30; Colossians 2:9)

  • We believe that God stepped out of eternity into time in the person of His eternal Son, as was foretold in Scripture—being born in Bethlehem of the Virgin Mary. He was fully God and fully human, yet without sin; and He had all power, even to heal the sick and raise the dead. At Calvary’s Cross, Jesus willingly gave Himself as the perfect atoning sacrifice for the sin of the world.  Three days later, He was resurrected from death, thus securing the triumphant hope of eternal life for those who believe.  (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; 57:15; John 1:1-3, 14; Romans 5:6-11)

  • We believe the Holy Spirit is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to those who believe. The Holy Spirit brings about the conviction of sin and the new birth, bears witness of our spiritual adoption, and is the power behind individual and corporate Christian perseverance and ministry. (John 16:7-15; Acts 1:8)
